Wilson Contributes to "Read For The Record" Numbers

Submitted by cami.chang on
Not too long ago we celebrated Read For The Record, where Mr. Rawlings read to every student in the school. Read For The Record is a global event where "over 2.2 million children and adults gathered in schools, libraries, and communities around the world to read Not Norman: A Goldfish Story. The book was so popular, it sold out everywhere!" (Jumpstart's Read for the Record) As a school, we contributed 530 students that impressive number of 2.2 million! That was more than any other school in the district. We are proud to be Wilson Lions!

Apex Fun Run Is Here!

Submitted by cami.chang on

The PTA's annual fundraiser this year is the Apex Fun Run! Next Wednesday, November 11th, students will spend 30 minutes running laps. This week and into next week they can gather pledges from friends and family, and after the Fun Run they will collect those pledges. For example, if someone pledged to donate $1 per lap for a student and that student runs 30 laps next Wednesday, he/she would give the student $30 after the Fun Run. Flat donations are also accepted and appreciated!

Mummifying...Stuffed Animals?

Submitted by cami.chang on

Last week, if you had walked down the 6th grade hallway, you would have found students cleaning stuffed animals, taking out the stuffing, and wrapping them up in toilet paper. Why? The students are learning all about ancient Egypt and the customs of its ancient people. To make the process of mummifying come alive (especially during the Halloween holiday), the students went through each step of the mummifying process using old stuffed animals. The students had a blast and learned a lot through this hands-on activity.

Red Ribbon Week: A Huge Success!

Submitted by cami.chang on

This past week was Red Ribbon Week, where students pledged to live a drug-free life. Included in the celebrations were a door decoration contest, two assemblies--The Rocky Mountain Wizard magic show and the UVU Spirit Squad--and dress-up days all week. The week concluded with a spectacular Halloween Parade. Thanks to everyone who participated, helped, and supported all that went on this week. And a huge thanks to the parents of our students who work hard to lead and support their children!

Coats Available!

If your child is in need of a coat for the winter, please come to the Tabitha's Pantry facility (140 North Main Street Spanish Fork) from 10am-1pm or 2pm-6pm Monday (Nov. 2) through Saturday (Nov. 7). There are many coats in various sizes available, and they are being given out on a first come first served basis until they run out.

The person picking up the coat will need to have a picture ID and be registered in their system. If the coat is for a child, the CHILD MUST BE PRESENT so they can make sure the coat fits.

Read for the Record

Last week during specialty classes, each grade had the opportunity to hear a story read by our principal, Mr. Rawlings. The students enjoyed the story and the chance to visit with Mr. Rawlings. We love good books and being part of a great school!
