NOVA

Submitted by cami.chang on

The NOVA program is a program where 6th grade students can learn important life skills. If the students can complete the program, they have NOVA graduation. The students also get an award at graduation. The NOVA teacher this year was Officer Glenn Carlson (a police officer). At NOVA graduation this year, the K9 unit dogs came, and it was awesome. NOVA is awesome.

6th Grade Hershey Track Meet

Submitted by cami.chang on

On Tuesday, April 19th, the 6th graders' Hershey Track Meet took place at Payson High School. Many different schools were in attendance there, including Wilson, Taylor, Park View, and others. Students ran in different races like the 100 meter, 200 meter, 400 meter, 800 meter, and the 1600 meter. Two different field events were available too: the long jump and softball throw. Students from different schools cheered on their friends as they watched them race and often went to the snack shack to buy a snack. Some people even got to see friends that were in a different school!

Judy Koontz Retiring

Submitted by cami.chang on

Judy Koontz, a beloved educator and friend, will be retiring at the end of this school year. Most of her career has been at Wilson, and she loves this school. Wilson Elementary has been blessed to have her as part of its school. Not only has she work in Title One, lent out and kept track of take-home books, and educated lives, she has also loved and inspired so many here. We are sad to see her leave, but we wish her the best of luck and happiness in her retirement. We love you, Judy Koontz!

Wilson Students at the BYU Science Fair

Submitted by cami.chang on

Last month, several of our very own students participated in the statewide science fair at BYU in Provo. A trio of 5th grade boys--Kaleb Spencer, Samuel Lopez-Rivera, and Jonah Phong--placed 4th in their division, and we are so proud of them! A duo of 6th grade boys, Ryker Jarvis and Dante Cervantes, won 1st place in the Life Sciences division and will compete to move on to the nationals. We are amazed by these students' great work, and we thank you for representing our school so well! Go lions!
