The Wilson Elementary Choir recently put on a concert and reception for local men and women who have served or are currently serving in the US forces. The choir members sang several patriotic songs, and shared some yummy treats with those in attendance. The choir is directed by Diana Hunt along with first-grade-teacher Sharee Burton.
Who do our kids turn to when things are not right? Who is always there to
help through the tough situations that happen in some students lives? Who
is always willing to help any teacher in any way she can? Vicki Lyons -
that's who!
Sending a note to a loved one in heaven on a balloon, helping a child know
how to make friends, being DoSo the dolphin or helping overcome a child's
fears are just a few of the things that our school counselor does.
To help celebrate this big event we are making a commemorative cookbook!
Did your children attend Wilson? Did you attend Wilson yourself? Are you a supporter of Wilson Elementary? We want to include your recipe and memories in our cookbook! This cookbook will also include fun quotes from the students, nearly 600 delicious recipes, dividers designed by students, and a full history of the school, including pictures! It will be a great cookbook that you will want to keep for years.
This year the theme for the refletions contest was "Beauty is. . ." and we certainly had some beautiful entries! The winners were announced at school on November 3rd and an open house was held later that night to showcase all the artwork. We would like to thank Hogi Yogi, Crest, and Covey Center for the Arts for donating prizes.
Fifth-grade students at Wilson Elementary have recently been studying about electricity. While walking down the hallway you could see lights flashing and buzzers coming from Mrs. Kristy Litster's room. Students were able to build circuits out of nine-volt batteries, old Christmas lights, and electric powered buzzers.
