As you walk through the halls of Wilson Elementary you may see a small group of students working on phonics in the lunch room, another group working on comprehension skills in the library, and several other groups working on literacy skills in rooms that otherwise would be empty. Many of the grade level teams have started teaching literacy skills in what is known as a “Power Hour.” According to the second grade team, Power Hour is a time when all students receive instruction at their ability level.
