Wilson Elementary and Wilson PTA have teamed up to give back to students in need at their school this Christmas Season.  They are sponsoring the first ever “Wilson Tree of Giving”.    And they are inviting the community of Payson to come along.

“We usually all see or know someone in need during the Christmas season” say’s Jennie, a PTA member at Wilson “But with the sluggish economy, the need is greater than ever before”

So the PTA along with Wilson staff decided to pull forces together and sponsor a Tree of Giving.  A flyer was put out offering families help this Christmas with coats, shoes and clothing items.  Almost 60 children were signed up within a week!  A card was created for each child in need and someone wanting to give back can pick up one of these cards at the Wilson office to sponsor a child. Every time a card is picked up one goes on the tree to represent that child.  All children are anonymous.

“We are a family here at Wilson“states Jennie “And family takes care of each other”

In addition, PTA is sponsoring the event:  “Skating in Central Park” on Saturday Dec. 4th from 1-5pm.  The School gym will be turned into a Winter Skate park with a mix of Christmas and fun upbeat music. 100% of all money raised will go to help purchase items for these kids.  The PTA was able to get the skates from Payson City to rent and doughnuts Donated.  The cost is just $2.50 per person and EVERYONE is invited to attend!  All kids MUST be accompanied by an adult

“This is going to be such a fun and affordable event for families” states Jennie   “But the best part knows while having fun we are making a difference”

If you or someone you know would like to sponsor a child in need this Christmas, or make a donation, please contact Jennie at 801-361-0422 or Wilson School at 801-465-6060
