Book Fair Drawing Winners

Submitted by cami.chang on
First, we would like to give a huge thank you to all those who participated in the book fair last week and for making it an incredible success! Since it was so successful, we were able to do a few different drawings for the teachers and students at Wilson Elementary. Congratulations to everyone who won the drawings! The teacher who had the most students come to SEPs and bring their ticket to the book fair was Mrs. Smith, who teaches 4th grade.

Thank You!

We would like to give a big Lion thank you to everyone who came out to Parent Teacher Conferences on Wednesday! It's always great to meet with parents and students and make goals together. We would also like to thank the PTA and all those involved in making the Book Fair so successful this week! Books are vital in life, and it was incredible to see so many students get excited about books they found at the Book Fair. Go lions!

Come to the book fair! Next week, Sept. 21-25, the book fair will be here at Wilson School. Monday the 21st is Parent Preview Day, where parents/guardians can come to the school and see the books available at the fair from 1:30-2:30pm. The book fair itself will be open Tuesday through Friday for 30 minutes before school and 30 minutes after school. On Wednesday night (the night of parent teacher conferences) the fair will be open from 2:00-8:00pm (the same hours as SEPs), so bring the whole family and enjoy perusing the books! We hope to see you there!

Student Essay: The Twin Towers

Submitted by cami.chang on

"The Twin Towers" by McKenzie Van Dam

On September 11, 2001, 19 terrorists took control of two U.S. inbound flights and crashed them into the two World Trade Towers located in New York City, USA. This act of terrorism took the lives of 2,996 people, including the lives of those on the planes, at the Pentagon, and the lives of the hijackers.

The terrorists belonged to a group called Al-Queda, which was led by Osama bin Laden. He claimed that the attacks came due to the presence of the U.S. military troops in Saudi Arabia and sanctions against Iraq.

Picture Day is this Friday, September 11th! Notes and packets have been sent home with your children, so please be sure to look over those. We want everyone to come to school that day (and every day) with a big smile ready to share. We love Picture Day because it means that school is back in full swing!
