The 4th grade students at Wilson Elementary got a special treat this year, a field trip to our State Capitol.  The field trip was arranged and hosted by our legislative representative Patrick Painter and was a fun educational and experience for the students, teachers and parent helpers who attended.  The children were able to learn the process of presenting a bill and passing laws while sitting in the seats of the House of Representatives!  Next was a tour of the capitol building where the kids learned the history of the building as well as changes made since the re-modeling of the capitol.  The tour ended in the basement of the building where the students got to see the earthquake forms that have been constructed to help prevent damage to the building if a big one hits!

One of the highlights was a surprise visit from the former Speaker of the House, David Clark, whose father, Clifford Clark, was the very first principal at Wilson School!  The trip ended in a pizza lunch and a sugar cookie on the way out the door!

Combining education, history and fun all in one day was a big hit for our fourth graders and will be something they will remember for years to come.  Thank you to Patrick Painter for making this a special day for our school.
