This year along with becoming a Leader in Me School we have created a Student Lighthouse Team. The main aim of the SLHT is to create a stronger relationship between the students and teachers and give students a say in matters that affect them.  Members will help share their peers’ ideas, interests, and concerns with the school faculty. Student Lighthouse will also help the students raise funds for school-wide projects that enhance a sense of community within the school. They assist the Lighthouse Team when they are in need of aid. SLHT creates citizens who demonstrate communication, responsibility, and empathy for others.  These traits give them the foundation to become impactful future leaders of our school and ultimately, society.

As well as the elected representatives from each class, Mrs. Snow is the Teacher Liaison, Mrs. Partridge is the Lighthouse Team Liaison, additionally with help from Mr. Rawlings and Mrs. Kidd. The Teacher Liaisons have the responsibility for supporting the SLHT and helping support the SLHT practically and in the teaching body.

This past month students in grades 5th and 6th filled out applications and wrote an essay to tell us why they would be a great student leader for the school. Out of the applications received classes and staff voted on who would be good for the role.
